A method for the synthesis of the title compounds is reported here. A one-step synthesis of 5-substituted 1H-indole-3-carbonitrile derivatives was carried out using 5-substituted 1H-indole-3-carboxaldehyde and hydroxylamine hydrochloride under acidic condition. The products were identified by m.p. determination, IR and 1HNMR.
