Herein, a new magnetic metal-organic frameworks based on Fe3O4 (NMMOFs) with porous and high surface area materials were synthesized. Then, NMMOFs were characterized by FT-IR, XRD, SEM, elemental mapping, energy dispersive X-ray (EDS), TG, DTG, VSM, and N-2 adsorption-desorption isotherms (BET). Fe3O4@Co(BDC)-NH2 as a magnetic porous catalyst was applied for synthesis of novel fused pyridines and 1,4-dihydropyridines with pyrazole and pyrimidine moieties as suitable drug candidates under ultrasonic irradiation. The significant advantages of the presented methodology are mild, facile workup, high yields, short reaction times, high thermal stability, and reusability of the described NMMOFs catalyst.

Deep eutectic solvents are a class of new generation green solvents formed from two or more components, which furnish a new homogeneous liquid phase with lower melting point than the individual components. Here, for the first time, dual role of DES as catalyst and reaction medium was studied for the synthesis of symmetric dihydropyridine derivatives from aldehyde, ethyl acetoacetate and ammonium acetate. The present article reports the suitability of six DESs for Hantzsch dihydropyridine synthesis at room temperature. Among this, DES 2 (ZrOCl2.8H(2)O and ethylene glycol at 1:2 ratio) was found to be the catalyst of choice with excellent recyclability. The role of DES in the present protocol was to activate the reactants through strong hydrogen bonding interaction and provide suitable medium for the reaction. The major advantages of DESs for the titled reaction are the easy preparation, low cost, non-volatility, biodegradability, simple catalytic process, excellent conversion and the reusability.

Versatile redox catalysts play the significant roles in alcohol oxidations, in which the mechanisms for homogeneous and heterogeneous alcohol oxidations are generally different. This work introduced a Lewis acid (LA) promoted homogeneous alcohol oxidation with Pd (OAc)(2) catalyst by using oxygen balloon as the oxidant source. It was found that adding Lewis acid such as Sc (OTf)(3) significantly accelerated Pd (II)-catalyzed alcohol oxidations; notably, the time courses of oxidations monitored by GC and H-1 NMR disclosed that there existed two processes including the initial sluggish oxidation followed by a rapid oxidation. The promotional effect of Lewis acid was attributed to the formation of heterobimetallic Pd (II)/LA species, which improved the oxidizing power of the palladium (II) species, thus accelerating alcohol oxidation in the induction period. Correlating the sizes of in situ generated palladium nanoparticles with the time course of alcohol oxidation further disclosed that the loosely, spherically large nanoparticles, which were composed of many tiny nanoparticles having the size less than 10 nm, were responsible for the rapid oxidation, whereas those highly dispersed, tiny nanoparticles having the size less than 10 nm were not responsible for the rapid oxidation.

In the present study, we reported the synthesis of a novel quinoline-based dendrimer-like ionic liquid. After characterization of the mentioned ionic liquid with suitable techniques such as Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDX), elemental mapping, thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) and derivative thermogravimetry (DTG), its catalytic performance was investigated in the synthesis of new pyridines with sulfonamide moiety via a cooperative vinylogous anomeric-based oxidation mechanism under mild reaction conditions. All target molecules were achieved in short reaction times and high yields.

The significant stability of magnetic core and – OH functional groups on the surface of silica-coated cobalt ferrite (CoFe2O4@SiO2) nanoparticles make it a good candidate for functionalization and catalytic application. In this work, a surface-modified magnetic solid support with Cu(II) complex was prepared. The structure of the new nanostructure was characterized by Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), X-ray powder diffraction (XRD), thermogravimetric analysis (TGA/DTG), vibrating sample magnetometer (VSM), the field emission scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM), the electron-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS), and inductively coupled plasma optical emission spectrometry (ICP/OES) techniques. The catalytic activity of the prepared hybrid nanomaterial was evaluated in the synthesis of 2,3-dihydroquinazolin-4(1H)-ones and high yields of desired products were obtained with green media. Some advantages of this method are high yields, short reaction times, green solvent and conditions, easy workup procedure, negligible copper leaching, reusability without a significant diminish in catalytic efficiency and simple separation of nanocatalyst by using an external magnet alongside the environmental compatibility and sustainability.

A new method for the fast synthesis of diverse 4-aryl-6-cycloamino-1,3,5-triazin-2-amines was developed. The synthesis is performed under microwave irradiation in a one-pot manner from cyanoguanidine, aromatic aldehydes, and cyclic amines. Their three-component reaction in the presence of hydrochloric acid produced dihydrotriazines, which were then converted (without isolation) into the targeted compounds via aromatic dehydrogenation in the presence of alkali. The reaction tolerated various aromatic aldehydes (including heterocyclic) and cyclic amities. Crystal structures of two representative 4-aryl-6-morpholino-1,3,5-triazin-2-amines were established by X-ray crystallography. The results of preliminary biological screening identified potent antileukemic activity for 6-[3,4-dihydroisoquinolin-2(1H)-yl]-4- phenyl-1,3,5-triazin-2-amine.
