The distillate was extracted with 3×100 mL of dichloromethane, and then dried over anhydrous sodium sulfate. The desiccant was filtered off, and the solvent was evaporated under reduced pressure to give 6.0 g of pale yellow transparent liquid,cis-perhydroisoindole

To the foregoing solution, under reflux, was added cis-cyclohexane-1,2-dicarboximide (10.6 g) portionwise over 10 minutes. The reaction mixture was heated to reflux for 3 hours.
