The present paper suggests a new and efficient method for the synthesis of symmetrical and unsymmetrical 3,3-di(indol-3-yl)indolin-2-ones catalyzed by ZrCl4 from isatin and indole. Furthermore, it facilitates obtaining the symmetrical tris(indolyl)methane. In addition, to resolve these issues, the zirconium (IV) chloride provides the possibility of synthesizing methane-symmetric tris(indolyl) with the proposed novel method.

A novel indole derivative (N-(1H-2-phenyl-indole-3-ylmethyl) acrylamide, NPI) synthesized by a Friedel-Crafts alkylation reaction was identified using IR spectroscopy, H-1 NMR, C-13 NMR and elemental analysis. The inhibitory effect of this novel indole derivative on bacteria and marine algae was studied. The results showed that the inhibition ratios of the indole derivative against Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus were 95.93% and 94.91%, respectively, and the indole derivative possessed prominent inhibitory activity against Phaeodactylum tricornutum, Nitzschia Closterium and Skeletonema costatum. These findings indicate that the indole derivative has high biological activity. Subsequently, the indole derivative was introduced to acrylate resins by free-radical polymerization. The resulting acrylate resins were subjected to self-polishing, anti-algal and antifouling test, the results of which indicated that acrylate resins containing the synthesized indole derivative could exhibit significant antifouling properties because of the combination of the biofouling resistance of the indole derivative and the self-polishing properties of acrylate. This work provides an academic foundation for studying environmentally friendly and highly efficient antifouling coatings.

Changes in the plant water status, biochemical and hormonal responses, were investigated in three olive cultivars (Arbequina, Arbosana and Chetoui) grown in a super-high-density orchard under partial root-zone drying (PRD) irrigation. Four irrigation treatments were applied during two growing seasons (2015 and 2016); control treatment (100 % ETc) irrigated at 100 % of crop evapotranspiration on both parts of the root-zone and three PRD irrigation treatments (100 % PRD, 75 % PRD and 50 % PRD) irrigated at 100 %, 75 %, and 50 % of crop evapotranspiration only on one alternated part of the root-zone. The results indicated that the three studied olive cultivars showed a clear difference in their response to PRD irrigation. Arbequina cultivar has shown a conservative strategy for using water since relative water content (RWC) and stem water potential (Psi(stem)) were reduced more in Arbosana and Chetoui under PRD irrigation. In fact, PRD irrigation has led to a strong activation of secondary metabolites with antioxidant properties such as pigments, phenols and flavonoids. Other metabolic changes, including the accumulation of soluble sugars and proline have been also triggered by PRD irrigation. Among the studied cultivars, Arbequina displayed the highest levels of proline, total soluble sugars, phenols and flavonoids, and the lowest ones for Malondialdehyde (MDA) and hydrogen peroxide (H2O2). The increase in Superoxide dismutase (SOD), catalase (CAT) and guaiacol peroxidase (POD) activity and the reduction in polyphenoloxidase (PPO) activity under PRD irrigation were more pronounced in 2016 season with highest activities obtained from cultivar Arbequina. For all the three cultivars, PRD irrigation increased phytohormones concentration in both, roots and leaves and the highest levels were recorded in 2016. In leaves, Arbequina showed the lowest levels of abscisic acid (ABA), and the highest levels of jasmonic acid (JA), salicylic acid (SA) and indole-3-acetic acid (IAA). PRD irrigation also induces a higher accumulation of ABA, JA and IAA in dried roots than in wetted ones. Taken together, physiological and biochemical mechanisms induced by PRD irrigation were more effective in Arbequina suggesting better protection of their foliar functions compared to other cultivars and its higher adaptability to PRD.

Reactions catalyzed within inorganic and organic materials and at electrochemical interfaces commonly occur at high coverage and in condensed media, causing turnover rates to depend strongly on interfacial structure and composition, 89-78-1, Name is DL-Menthol, SMILES is O[C@H]1[C@H](C(C)C)CC[C@@H](C)C1, in an article , author is Rani, Vijaya, once mentioned of 89-78-1, Recommanded Product: DL-Menthol.

Methane utilizing bacteria (MUB) are known to inhabit the flooded paddy ecosystem where they play an important role in regulating net methane (CH4) emission. We hypothesize that efficient MUB having plant growth-promoting (PGP) attributes can be used for developing novel bio-inoculant for flooded paddy ecosystem which might not only reduce methane emission but also assist in improving the plant growth parameters. Hence, soil and plant samples were collected from the phyllosphere, rhizosphere, and non-rhizosphere of five rice-growing regions of India at the tillering stage and investigated for efficient methane-oxidizing and PGP bacteria. Based on the monooxygenase activity and percent methane utilization on NMS medium with methane as the sole C source, 123 isolates were identified and grouped phylogenetically into 13 bacteria and 2 yeast genera. Among different regions, a significantly higher number of isolates were obtained from lowland flooded paddy ecosystems of Aduthurai (33.33%) followed by Ernakulum (20.33%) and Brahmaputra valley (19.51%) as compared to upland irrigated regions of Gaya (17.07%) and Varanasi (8.94%). Among sub-samples, a significantly higher number of isolates were found inhabiting the phyllosphere (58.54%) followed by non-rhizosphere (25.20%) and rhizosphere (15.45%). Significantly higher utilization of methane and PGP attributes were observed in 30 isolates belonging to genera Hyphomicrobium, Burkholderia, Methylobacterium, Paenibacillus, Pseudomonas, Rahnella, and Meyerozyma. M. oryzae MNL7 showed significantly better growth with 74.33% of CH4 utilization at the rate of 302.9 +/- 5.58 and exhibited half-maximal growth rate, K-s of 1.92 +/- 0.092 mg CH4 L-1. Besides the ability to utilize CH4, P. polymyxa MaAL70 possessed PGP attributes such as solubilization of P, K, and Zn, fixation of atmospheric N and production of indole acetic acid (IAA). Both these promising isolates can be explored in the future for developing novel biofertilizers for flooded paddies. [GRAPHICS] .
